Producer Of ‘Blind Justice The Movie’ – Gia Forteria, Attends The Bet Awards Weekend Experience
The 2025 BET Awards took over the entire downtown metropolitan area for 5 days from June 5th-9th with educational seminars, workshops, interviews, parties, music, dance, celebrity performances, and independent business promotions to celebrate black excellence at its peak. The notorious event takes place annually in Los Angeles that draws in dozens of legendary icons in music including Lil Wayne, Snoop Dog, Mario, GloRilla, Stevie Wonder, Bow Wow, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, and Kirk Franklin, professional athletes such as Lonzo Ball and Matt Barnes, thousands of local attendees and millions of worldwide watchers through online streaming and television. It also marked the second year of collaboration with host Kevin Hart.
“I first became involved with the BET Awards in 2004 when I watched Monique perform the iconic choreography to Beyoncé ‘s Crazy In Love hit single with plus-sized models. Then, in 2005 when Missy Elliot, Fatman Scoop, and Ciara performed their hit single Lose Control. So, when I was given the opportunity to attend the 2025 BET Awards in person I couldn’t refuse”, said DMV filmmaker and entertainer Gia Foretia. Even though the primary goal of the BET Awards was to celebrate the beauty, strength, and privilege to be an individual of the black race, Gia was reminded by her mentor, Edna Njoku, to network with great people. Most importantly, alert as many connections as possible about her LA premiere in October for her debut film Blind Justice.
2025 Waymaker Mens Summit
The 2-day educational workshop / seminar at the Beehive has made its name by giving the next generation of black male entrepreneurs the necessary tools and connections to make significant changes in their communities. To ensure black men that they’re appreciated, seen, and valued in a world that constantly tests their worth.

The lineup consisted of appearances by Nick Cannon, Skye Black, Ben Crump, and Terrence J (just to name a few). Tasked with the challenge of networking as a newcomer in the entertainment industry, Gia had to put her well-rehearsed pitch to the test and hope that the person on the receiving end finds it interesting. “I truly had to get out of my comfort zone as an introvert and just go for it”. Then, her opportunity came when she saw Joshua David Neal from One of Them Days.
When she delivered her pitch, she was excited when it actually made Joshua a bit surprised at the hook. Filled with enthusiasm, Gia continued to deliver her pitch to more people such as Seyi Brown (comedian), talent manager Reuben Wood, celebrity publicist Michelle Mackel and music manager Echo. “Networking is also about energy and having a good attitude. Smile, be hopeful. Don’t be timid and shy. Embrace your mistakes and know things will get better with practice”.
BET Celebrity Basketball Game
During this event, Gia, Edna, and hundreds of fans were led to a small gym in an upper quadrant of the Peacock Theatre. Fans filled the bleachers, screamed and fought for pictures with celebrity idols such as DC Young Fly, Devon Franklin, Rome Flynn, Mario, Lonzo and Liangelo Ball, Bow Wow, and Matt Barnes.Then, the games began. First, with the three-point free throw competition and then with the actual 2-quarter basketball game. “The energy was so cool. The food was fantastic. Seeing the Marathon shut down the entire BET event was crazy. It was great seeing celebrities having fun and giving fans a great show. Their presence at these events give DMV natives such as myself a once in a lifetime experience”, she says.

During the award weekend, Gia had the opportunity to connect with Echelon Studios, who recently secured a licensing deal for her upcoming film, ‘Blind Justice’. This marked a major breakthrough for her, as it allowed in-depth discussions about the expectations and process surrounding the sale of her debut project. Additionally, Gia took the stage at the BET Weekend Live Health Expo, where she spoke to thousands about beauty, wellness, and healthy living.

BET Awards 2025
The award show was a rush. Seatfillers were led and stopped from entering the main showroom. Black SUV’s were backed up in the streets, celebrities were being guided to their seats. Before entering the main showroom, it was great to see artists such as Erica Mena, Druski, Ciara, Tank, Keke Palmer, and Cam Newton walk past giving people compliments. “Yes. It’s true. Celebrities are really nice. They’re dreamers just like everyone else”. Finally, the main showroom. Hearing the speakers bounce loudly and smell the smoke / fog exuding from the stage as GloRilla, Teyanna Taylor, Lil Wayne, and Jennifer Hudson performed to lead up to Jamie Fox finally receiving his well-deserved flowers was definitely a treat to remember.
